'Ainotsuji’ machiya house: a traditional holiday house (vacation rental) fantastically located within walking distance from Kanazawa Station and a short walk to Omicho Market.

Located in the heart of central Kanazawa, Ainotsuji is the perfect place to stay during your time in Kanazawa, Japan. Inspired by the art of kimono dyeing perfected in the Hokuriku region, this spacious machiya is embellished with rich indigo blues and traditional kimono art. The dining room features sky-high ceilings, and a lush sofa to relax on as you look out onto your private inner garden. You'll also find a traditional Japanese room (which can be converted in a sleeping area), a fully renovated kitchen, and luxurious bathroom.

Head upstairs to the 2F, and admire the kimono textile art, which showcases gold, silver, and silk woven in the Kanazawa-Kaga tradition. A Japanese room with rich blue tatami flooring is enveloped in shoji doors, which can be shut for complete privacy, or opened completely for an open and airy space. The Western-style bedroom features 2 beds and wooden beams stretching across the ceiling. An additional shower room and toilet is available upstairs for your convenience. This renovated Kanazawa machiya house also includes modern facilities such as floor heating, WiFi, IH stovetop, washing machine, and more.

About This Machiya House

Classic Kanazawa machiya As you approach a quiet residential lane, find a grand machiya with a black earthen ‘shikkui’ exterior and finely arranged wooden ‘koshi’ latticework. This is particular style of machiya is unique to Kanazawa.

Bedding Set-up: The number of beddings prepared will match the number of guests you have made a reservation for, and not the maximum capacity.

To make a request for a specific bedding set-up, you must contact MACHIYA RESIDENCE INN at least 2 days before your check-in date. Up to 2 children (5-years-old and younger) staying under our “Children’s Policy” will be required to share a bedding with another guests.

Is this a hotel in Kanazawa?: No, this is not a hotel in Kanazawa. Our machiya homes are self-catering, private Japanese-style holiday houses (vacation rentals), which are reserved exclusively for 1 group per day. (Guests will not be sharing the house with any other guests). As there are no staff on-site at the house, our traditional Japanese machiya homes are perfect for travelers interested in immersing themselves in local culture in Kanazawa!

If you require assistance during your stay, our friendly staff are available via email or telephone between 10AM~7PM. (Emergency assistance is available 24 hours a day.)
Please note that as this is a self-catering holiday house, and not a hotel, housekeeping during your stay is available for guests who stay 4 night or more.
However, our staff are available for garbage pick-up, to provide additional towels during your stay, and more. We also encourage our guests to reuse bath towels to help us reduce the consumption of water.
