"Hikoso-machi Ginnoma" machiya house: a traditional holiday house (vacation rental) located between Omicho Market and Higashi Chaya Teahouse District, and offering fantastic access to Kanazawa's most treasured sites.

A classic Kanazawa-style machiya house complete with 'yukizuri' trees in its 2 gardens, and designed in vivid “Kanazawa Blue” and silver leafing - drawing inspiration from the serene, and snowy winter landscapes of this seaside escape. The 1F features a spacious dining room and kitchen, perfect to enjoy meals throughout your stay. The Japanese room offers a calming view of the inner garden, and also showcases an entire wall covered in silver leaf (a traditional Kanazawa craft) with with 2 goldfish gracefully swimming. You'll also find a modern bathroom complete with a rainfall shower.

Head upstairs and relax in one of 2 bedrooms - a Western-style bedroom with wooden beams stretching across the ceiling, or a traditional Japanese room with a checkered tatami-flooring, tokonoma alcove, and shoji sliding doors. This renovated Kanazawa machiya house also includes modern facilities such as floor heating, WiFi, IH stovetop, washing machine, and more.

Wood Exterior A classic Kanazawa machiyas awaits you. At the front of the house, trees with branches tied with rope in the Kanazawa ‘yukizuri’ tradition are found, welcoming you to Kanazawa and “Hikoso-machi Ginnoma.”

Stunning silver and blue This house features the vivid “Kanazawa Blue” and silver. In the Japanese living room, discover an entire wall covered by silver leaf with with 2 goldfish gracefully swimming.

To make a request for a specific bedding set-up, you must contact MACHIYA RESIDENCE INN at least 2 days before your check-in date. Up to 2 children (5-years-old and younger) staying under our “Children’s Policy” will be required to share a bedding with another guests.

Is this a hotel in Kanazawa?: No, this is not a hotel in Kanazawa. Our machiya homes are self-catering, private Japanese-style holiday houses (vacation rentals), which are reserved exclusively for 1 group per day. (Guests will not be sharing the house with any other guests). As there are no staff on-site at the house, our traditional Japanese machiya homes are perfect for travelers interested in immersing themselves in local culture in Kanazawa!

If you require assistance during your stay, our friendly staff are available via email or telephone between 10AM~7PM. (Emergency assistance is available 24 hours a day.)
Please note that as this is a self-catering holiday house, and not a hotel, housekeeping during your stay is available for guests who stay 4 night or more.
However, our staff are available for garbage pick-up, to provide additional towels during your stay, and more. We also encourage our guests to reuse bath towels to help us reduce the consumption of water.
